Bright Futures Team 1

Martha Ulloa

Martha teaches in the Caterpillar Room, which serves infants and toddlers ranging in age from 4 months to 2 years old. She will celebrate two years as a team member at Bright Futures in November and has over 23 years of experience working with young children.

Martha is currently pursuing her Teacher Permit and working toward a B.A. in Child Development, with more than 60 completed units. She holds a high school diploma and has also completed A.A. and Master’s coursework.

In her free time, Martha enjoys spending time with family and making crafts such as balloon garlands, paper crafts, and hair bows. Her favorite quote is, “Shine, Dream, Smile” from Magic Shop.

For Martha, the most rewarding part of teaching is witnessing each child’s growth and development, and seeing them master their developmental stages.

Raquel Mendiola

Raquel Mendiola
Ladybug Room | Ages 3-4

Raquel Mendiola has been a dedicated team member at Bright Futures for one month, bringing her passion for early childhood education to the Ladybug Room. She holds a BA in Psychology and Chicana/o Studies, with a minor in Education.

Raquel finds the most rewarding part of teaching to be connecting with families and creating a safe space where children can be curious, grow, and flourish. She values the importance of community in learning and development, embodying the words of bell hooks:

“Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.”

Outside of the classroom, Raquel enjoys reading and spending time in nature, embracing both knowledge and the beauty of the outdoors.
